Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Peter, and I'm a student at UMed. This web site is home to my one frivolous fascination: abandoned towns. New Jersey is full of them; some you can see from the highway, others tucked away along backroads that were once major thoroughfares. The purpose of this site is to create a collection of firsthand accounts and original observation of abandoned towns for the curious history hunter.
When I get the rare free weekend (contrary to popular belief, college isn't all beer and togas - especially pre-med), I often take the chance to drive out to these towns and blog about my experiences there. And (although I make no promises!) I often bring back pictures and the occasional video of these places for your viewing pleasure. Right now, all of the towns you'll find in this collection are from various parts of Jersey, but I hope to add more towns from across the country and the world through the vigilance of our readers.
Vital statistics: Subject is 26 years old, residing in Hammonton, NJ. Suffers from symptoms of long study hours; chee-toh stains can be found under subject's fingernails, high mountain dew concentration in bloodstream. Subject has a tattoo of Betty Boop on his upper thigh.
Some of my hobbies include internet surfing, staring forlornly at my empty inbox, and getting wasted playing Mario Kart. I have also given tours to several so-called "ghost-hunter" teams interested in the abandoned sites around Hammonton, which is really rather entertaining and pays well.
