Spring 2005... The first meetings of the artists behind Wesson Studios begin, with the idea to bring to film, an art form that hadn't really advanced much in years or availed itself of new and exciting digital and interactive technologies, a new perspective that embraced the reality-based mindset popular in television and combined it with new technologies and delivery concepts and methods. Their goal - to reject and disprove the formulaic process of mass market, Hollywood movie-making by bringing the power of digital movie making to the powerful and often fantastic stories of everyday people. While no true working arrangements or partnerships were finalized in these early meetings (not even a name!), the ingredients were assembled that would soon become Wesson Studios.
Summer 2005... The script for a possible first project is developed by one of the participants in the Spring meetings and passed around to the others who were there. Although almost everyone genuinely likes the treatment, circumstances conspire to prevent any real progress for several months. As Summer ends, a second draft of the script renews interest in the project.
Fall 2005... Meetings in NYC bring everyone back together again to discuss the script, now tentatively called A Glimpse Beyond Reality, and how to actually get it made. With the power of collective thinking and several near sleepless nights, the participants left NYC with a new name, Wesson Studios, and a new purpose.
Winter 2005... Production begins on Wesson Studios' first feature project, now referred to only as "Project 6" within the company, for reasons still not disclosed. The synchronicity of lucky timing and fate brought renewed public and creative interest in the subject matter of "Project 6" and soon, fresh funding to the project as well. As Winter ended, Wesson Studios proudly announced details about their upcoming first major release - Devil in the Backyard.
